Topics / Speaker Suggestions

If you have a different topic idea for a session, please also include. Note our updated policy on diversity, equity and inclusion and so please think about nominating those who are underrepresented in medicine.

  • Wound care cases
  • Developing skills for advocacy in healthcare
  • Difficult patient encounters
  • Wellness
  • How to do a chalk talk
  • Orthopedic exams and procedures
  • Best practices of teaching on wards
  • Obesity cases (medications, approach to patient with obesity)
  • Transgender health – psychosocial issues, case based discussion
  • Pulmonary hypertension cases
  • Rheumatology for the hospitalist

PLENARY SESSIONS: (14-15):

  • Physician wellness
  • Nutrition counseling (for different types of diets)
  • Cardiology update (new meds for HF, antithrombotic therapy for stable CAD, valvular heart disease / interventional cards update)
  • Diabetes update (new meds, new devices, new meds for DM with CAD, DM with CKD)
  • COVID-related talk (evolution of pandemic, long term effects of COVID, efficacy of different masks, vaccines, mutant strains)

20 Minute “Clinical Pearls” Talks (4-6):

  • Substance use related (buprenoirphine microdosing, bup versus methadone, phenobarb for alc use, medical marijuana, medical use of psychedelics, mngt of meth use disorder)
  • Rehab medicine for the internist / hospitalist
  • Antibiotics for appendicitis
  • O2 use in COPD
  • Perioperative management of frail patient
  • Perioperative nutrition assessment
  • Perioperative management of patients with solid organ transplants
